Kevin regarded him sourly. “You know, this hasn’t been what I’d call a good day. I think you’ve got about an hour of explaining to do.”
“By all means, come in. I’ll see if I can help you out.”
“Explain yes, help no. I’m not sure I want anything to do with you if you’ve got a hand in what’s been going on. I’m leaning towards decking you, right now.”
“But not killing me, I hope.” This last was said calmly and sincerely. Hopefully. With the element of a threat behind it, if Kevin was any judge.
“No, not that. I’m not all that partial to death.”
Chris regarded him now, almost warmly. “Ah, there is that. I’m not either. Please, come in.”
Kevin allowed himself to be escorted into a room that, properly speaking, wasn’t there. Not on any building plan the university had, at any rate. And it was also something out of another time and place, as well, if Kevin was any judge of that, as well.
