He chuckled, "Some things are better left in the dark."

"But they'll still think I'm crazy." she pouted, her lower lip protruding.

His hand came up, quickly and silently, and he grabbed her by the chin with his thumb and index finger and raised her face to meet his.

"Then let them think what they like, you're not crazy to me."

That child's smile curved her lips again, but her eyes remained distant and lonely. The hand still resting on her waist tightened around her back and drew her into him. Her heart began to beat uncharacteristically fast. She gripped his right shoulder tightly and could feel his muscle, yet she'd never seen it.

"You feel real, yet my eyes have no proof of this." She whispered, it was all she was capable of.

He dropped his hand from her chin and with both arms wrapped around her back he pulled her to him, crushing their bodies against one another. Her vision was obscured by the blackness of his hooded cloak, and for a moment she could see nothing else. Then out of the darkness floated a pair of burning red eyes, and she gasped.

"You are my demon."
