“Understood. What about the police?”

Kevin raised an eyebrow and thought for a moment. “Mmm... there is that. Give me five minutes and I’ll fix it so the police won’t go ballistic on you. Do not lie to them. Simply tell them as little of the truth as you can get away with. Stick to the basic story; that’s accurate. You weren’t here, you don’t know what happened and you’re not sure where I am. If pressed, tell them you have no idea what exactly I’m doing right now. I don’t want any complications for me if I have to catch a plane for the Orient.”

“Got it. And thanks, Kevin. At the least, I now know what’s going on and that’s a big help. Your idea of spot checking will work, I’m sure.”

Sam got to his feet as Kevin stood up, shook hands and then went upstairs to his own office.

Kevin took one final look around and then packed up his stuff and left. He paid for another day at the hotel and within a half hour, had cleaned up and gotten ready for some much needed sleep.

His cell phone rang.
