Nightfall came and Mr. Giggles sat in front of the mirror, his face alive with energy and a certain luminous glow. He had originally sat down to remove the make-up and yet as he looked in the mirror he couldn’t bring himself to do it. His heart almost ached at the thought of being ‘ordinary’ again and decided that he would leave the make up on and sleep sitting up for the night.
Once morning arrived, Mr. Giggles did a small re-fresh on his makeup in front of the mirror. Again, his attention was brought to the small leather bound book that had been such a help to him thus far. He picked it up and skimmed straight to the back for one last lesson. Mass soul consumption.
Mr. Giggles couldn’t help but grin at the thought of all that youthful energy coursing through his veins, not to mention his own army of zombie children. He had drawn a pentagram on the floor hidden under the circular stage just as the book had suggested and placed the little chairs all around it so he could absorb the energy better.
Finally, his moment had arrived. His performance had been flawless, and he was completely intoxicated by the energy his body had absorbed thus far. Only twenty children had showed up, but the power was maddening. He lost what little touch with reality and humanity he had left.
Mr. Giggles contorted his face, his teeth elongated and his eyes blazed with a eerie red glow again. All the children were to tired from laughter to move, he swirled his arms, making slow circular motions towards his mouth. Slowly the green soul energy began emanating from the helpless children. He breathed in even deeper this time.
As the energy flowed into his body, he noticed the eyes of the children starting to glaze over; he was almost done. Only one more breath and he would have sucked the life right out of them.
Suddenly the front door was broken down and several police officers rushed in, they instantly saw the clown as a immediate threat to the children and gunned him down. His body slumped to the floor and all the green energy slowly started leaking out of his body and back into the bodies of the children. Their eyes slowly regained their color and they shook their heads as if they were just waking from a deep sleep.
Several days later the children were returned to their families and the evil clown’s body had been burned and the ashes buried deep within the ground. As the police investigation came to a close it had been reported that an anonymous tip was what led police to the scene.
Polly sat down to dinner with her family that night, she smiled and hummed as she ate her dinner. Her parents inquired as to the source of her joy. Her giddy response was innocent and terrifying ‘Me and my friends are going to start are own circus!’
Her parents sent her to her room as punishment and forbid her from mentioning it again, her face was streaked with tears as she lay her head on her vanity. She opened her eyes just enough to peek out from her elbows. She saw something on the edge of her vanity; she had not remembered seeing it as she entered the room.
It was a small leather bound book with no title. She opened it and read the first few words, and as she flipped through the first few pages a evil little smirk came across her dainty little face ‘I will be the best clown ever’.
