The End:Story Two
In the Heartland Part 2

I turned away from him and went back to my shoveling; I heard him chuckle as he walked away. I glanced over my shoulder and saw him cutting through the field until he was out of sight. I tried not to think about it but the more I did the angrier I got.

Finally it got the better of me. I folded up my spade and decided to go track down that little bastard. I walked about a hundred yards or so when I came to a large pond. It must have been the pond the farm hands told me about yesterday.

I could not believe what I saw next! It was a female unlucky and she was tied to a large tree. The monster had no clothes on and looked as if she had just turned because she still looked human. I pulled out my spade and quickly unfolded it. But, before I could make my move on the beast, Peter Junior came out from behind some tall brush. I quickly ducked down so he wouldn't see me.

I was afraid to ask myself what he was doing out there, especially in the nude. Slowly he walked toward the unlucky with his hands outstretched toward her. He had something in his hands but I couldn't make it out at first. As he got closer I figured out that he was holding LDM, but it was a much larger ‘shroom than the ones my brother used to take.

As PJ reached the unlucky he took a dangerously large bite out of the drug. He stood there and slowly chewed the mushroom. It was as if the boy had gone into some trance not moving a muscle as the creature lunged at him.

When the unlucky female jumped forward, Junior grabbed her by the throat. He looked up at it with an evil smile and shoved an entire LDM into its mouth. The beast quickly devoured the drug and within seconds collapsed to the ground. I watched in utter horror as Peter Junior began to have sex with the unconscious creature. At first I thought that I should take care of PJ myself, but I knew if anything were to happen to him blame would eventually fall back on us.

So against my better judgment I decided to head back to my section of the garden and promised myself that I would deal with Peter Junior Later.

I spent the rest of the day in the garden. I tried to harvest as much as I could, while I struggled to blank out what happened at the pond. So many questions ran through my head like, who was the unlucky? Was it someone PJ knew or someone he had captured? And the big, question: why in the hell would someone do that to an unlucky?

Later, when we all met back at the buggy, I noticed that PJ was nowhere to be found. I asked Vince about it and he told me that, more often than not, Peter Junior didn't ride back to the house with everyone. I decided to press the question a bit more and asked Vince if he knew why that was.

He paused for a moment, then told me that if I knew anything to keep it to myself. I denied that I knew anything but I don't think he believed me.

On the way back to the house Vince just stared at me. A short time later we reached the house to find a hardy lunch waiting for us. Vince told me lunch was only an hour long and not to wander off too far. I explained that I was on my way to take food to my son and would be ready to do whatever was needed when the time came to do it.

As I walked up the stairs, toward me the room my son and I shared, I thought about how it seemed that this farm was ran much like a prison. No one could do what they wanted, but instead were forced into activities that were outlined to benefit the complex.

I wondered how Renee and Rose were handling the new change in lifestyle. I hadn't thought to ask as we rode back to the farm house. I decided that I would make a point to talk to them about it as soon as I could get them alone.

I walked up to the bedroom door and found it slightly cracked opened. I heaved it all the way open with my shoulder. I was surprised to find Francine sitting on the bed next to Michael. She quickly got to her feet as I walked into the room. She tried to explain that she was there to follow-up on my son's bullet wound, but had a tough time of it as she continually stumbled over her words.
