Even wounded, it lunged at me and knocked me back on top of the desk. Again the demon tried to snap at my face. I worked my hand free and grabbed the flagpole that was protruding from its skull, ripped it out of the eye socket to slam it into the other eye. Blood erupted around the spike, spewing everywhere. The Unlucky squealed like a wounded hog from the pain caused by my last maneuver.
Pushing it off of me, the creature’s body hit the floor with a hard thud! Quickly it got up and frantically ran around the class room, crashing into whatever got in its way. I got off the desk and ran over to the shotgun. I turned around to face the zombie-like being and I decided to end his suffering. I put two shots into its chest. The force from the blasts knocked the beast into the wall and blood from the bullet wounds splattered everywhere, covering the windows that were directly behind it.
Even with the injuries it had endured, the demon refused to die. It slowly stepped toward me, now with more determination then before. It wanted my blood and the monster was willing to suffer unimaginable pain, but I had other plans. I ran toward the creature and slammed the butt of the shotgun into its face, which staggered it for a moment. But, with a single backhanded swing it knocked me across the room. Before I could get up the Unlucky blindly jumped toward me. I thought I was done for when I saw an axe flung into its chest.
The Unlucky stumbled around the classroom, moaning and squealing in pain and frustration. When I got to my feet I discovered that it was Richard who had showed up right before that Unlucky made a meal of me. Richard walked over to the creature and grabbed the handle of the axe and began to jerk at it, trying to rip it free of the Unlucky, while at the same time swinging the beast around the room. Still holding onto the axe, Richard put one foot against the creatures abdomen and yanked the metal from the demon’s skin. Richard's forceful shove caused the wounded beast to fly backwards, and it crashed into one of the windows. The glass appeared to explode when the body collided with it. The monster tried to catch its balance but ultimately fell backwards out of the window.
We both looked out and saw that the Unlucky had hit the concrete, splattering its brains all about, allowing the others to feed on its remains. Several of them had handfuls of its slimy brain matter, shoving it into their mouths. After that was gone they quickly removed organs and feasted on them as well, until only a bloody pile of bones remained.
I turned back inside and thanked Richard by slugging him in the face. As he fell to the floor I wanted to know what happened to him while I was fighting for my life. Rich explained that he heard a noise down the hall and decided to would go investigate it. I helped my brother back to his feet to only knock him down to the floor once more. He wanted to know what that was for and I explained that I almost got killed and had needed his help. I told him to get off his ass, this place was too dangerous, and we needed to find everyone. Richard had said something after that, but I could not understand what he said was saying, as I walked away.
I turned and went back inside to look around the class room. It seemed as though the beast was hiding something, but what? Slowly I walked around the room, trying to find anything I may have missed.
